4 TYPICAL MANAGERIAL ACTIVITIES:




1. PLANNING- Implies that manager think through their goal and actions in advance. Their actions are usually based on some method, plan, or logic,rather than on hunch.
2. ORGANIZING- means that managers coordinates the human and material resources of the organization.
3. LEADING- describes how managers direct and influence subordinates, getting others to perform essential tasks, By establishing the proper atmosphere, they help their subordinates do their best.
4. CONTROLLING- means that managers attempt to assure that the organization is moving towards its goals. If some part of their organizations on the ring track if it its not working toward stated goals or is not doing so effectively-managers try to find out why and set things right.






ROLES OF MANAGER:

-FIGURE HEAD- the manager performs ceremonial duty.

-LEADER- the manager maintains the unit by hiring and training the staff and probiding motivation and encouragement.

-LIAISON- the manager makes contracts with person outside the manager`s own unit.



INFORMAL:

-MONITOR- managers look constantly for info baring on the performance unit.

-DISCRIMINATOR- manager passes valuable information along to others in the unit.

-SPOKESPERSON- manager passes valuable information along to those outside the unit.

-ENTREPRENEUR- manager makes rather permanent involvement to the unit.

-DISTURBANCE HANDLER- manager reacts to anticipate events.

-RESOURCES ALLOCATOR-managers control the purse strings of the unit.

-NEGOTIATOR- managers resolves disputes both within the unit and between the units and its environment.
